You don’t have to travel to Southern Italy to enjoy authentic Sicilian cuisine. Nestled at the corner of University Blvd. in Rice Village is Sud Italia. For a more formal dining experience, sit inside or opt for a lovely evening outdoors on the quaint, rustic patio.

The patio is perfect for people watching while enjoying your meal.

One of the best things about Sud Italia is the authenticity of the menu. The wine menu is organized by each southern region in Italy and the waitstaff is equipped to provide recommendations based on your meal or your favorite wine. In true Italian style, the menu features fresh ingredients from pastas to seafood dishes.

Start your meal with an antipasti. Arancini di Riso, lightly fried balls of rice and meat with saffron are a simple and tasty place to begin. If seafood is more your style, the Fritto Misto with lobster, shrimp, calamari and vegetables is the way to go.

As with most Italian restaurants, pasta is the true test of success. The Strozzapreti e al Pesto con Calamari is a delicious dish featuring fresh pesto and calamari. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous try the Rigatoni alla Cinghiale, pasta with wild boar. For a heartier meal, opt for the Pesce (fish) or Carne (meat) portions of the menu.
