Magnolia Pancake Haus has been dishing up delectable breakfast and lunch options since 2000, and with two spots to serve San Antonio (Medical Center and Embassy Oaks) you don’t have to go far.

Outside of The Magnolia

Magnolia Pancake Haus has a huge following here in SA. Wait times can be long, especially on the weekends, but you will be rewarded for your patience! (Or just make sure you get there right when they open up at 7 a.m.) When we pulled in on Saturday morning at 6:45 a.m., there were already quite a few cars waiting in the parking lot. Once inside, you’ll see that the line should move quickly, as there is plenty of seating!

Inside MPH

Although most people start their days off with coffee anyway, I can’t stress enough how delicious the coffee is at the Magnolia. They are brewing up Douwe & Eggberts European coffee blend, but they use a different kind of coffee machine (or magic?) to make it extra yummy and without a hint of that burnt or bitter coffee taste. (Sidenote: they also sell bags of the beans, which would make a perfect gift for the coffee lover in your life.) MPH offers cocktails perfect for a weekend morning or brunch including Bloody Marys, mimosas, and even a “manmosa,” a Shiner with OJ. Sounds like a match made in heaven.

The best way to start any day.

Perusing the menu, you’ll find breakfast classics alongside new creations. MPH also features lunch items and seasonal offerings. Some of the seasonals offered during this Christmas season were Gingerbread Pancakes and Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. There’s something for every type of breakfast person out there: savory, sweet, light, or filling.

A personal favorite, the granola pancakes

Magnolia’s specialty, however, is the behemoth Apfel Pfannekuchen, a traditional German apple pancake made to order. Although they serve their housemade syrup alongside the “fanny,” you probably won’t need it. This dish is sweet enough to be a dessert.

The "Fanny"

So if you’re looking for a place to take the whole family over the holidays, impress those out-of-town guests, or just seeking out some delicious breakfast to enjoy by yourself, do yourself a favor and get over to Magnolia Pancake Haus: pronto.
